The furniture I build includes tables, benches, stools, planters, and trellises. Rustica furniture is built using wood I find: branches blown down during storms, trees cleared for other uses of the land, trimmings cut to clear paths, lumber scraps, building demolition remnants, and discarded furniture pieces.
What is shown on this page are some examples of what I have made. I have many others as well, and I am happy to create pieces upon request. If you are interested in a special feature, perhaps a tabletop painted to match your house, or a particular size, please don't hesitate to ask.
All of the proceeds from RUSTICA are donated to the Boston Minstrel Company.
The base of this table is birch, and the top is pine boards, primed and painted with latex deck stain. One of my friends had been asked to clear some land for a parking lot, and he brought me the birch branches.

This base came from the a fallen maple tree in the woods; the tabletop and back were "finds" from the same forest.

The supports for this table are spruce, from a tree across the street which lost some branches during a winter storm. I'm not sure what kind of wood makes the top; it came from someone who was cleaning out his workshop. The tabletop has been sanded, and coated with oil-based wood stain and exterior oil.

This table has a base of maple and the top is from an abandoned wine crate I came across in Harvard Square. The printing on the crate creates an intriguing piece.

Here is a table with a base made from birch, and a painted pine top (exterior latex). No nails were used, only wooden pegs in a mortise/tenon arrangement. I have successfully tested it as a stool, but use your judgement!
